Looking at the Zen Garden entries, I noticed quite a bit of designs that need improvement, one particular is "
A Walk in the Garden". Although the graphics are nice, the layout is way to small, a person with a decent sized monitor is going to have more then half the screen taken up by white space. Monitors are coming in wide screen and I believe designers should allow the visitor the opportunity to use that space. Fluid layouts are important to me, I don't mind if a site isn't fluid, but this site is too restrictive in its layout.
A design that i liked was "
The Original". It has quite a bit of graphics used to create the look, but does a great job of creating a well organized layout which is very easy to read. I'm a fan of dark backgrounds with large readable text.

Its always a good idea to consider the needs of users that differ from yours. White space (in general) should be avoided; however, it can be pretty effective at conveying the purity of an already white design.
